                       Sims Uardry wins 2008 Riverina Ram of the Year

Success in the showring continued for the
Sims Uardry stud, Hay taking out back to
back honours, winning the 2008 Riverina
Ram of the Year at the Riverina Merino Field
Day, Conargo last Friday.

Competition was strong for the prestigious
Riverina Ram of the Year award with the
event attracting 10 rams from studs such
as Boonoke, Poll Boonoke, Wanganella,
Caroonboon, One Oak, One Oak No. 2, The
Yanko, Uardry, and Sims Uardry.
 
The winning sire, Sims Uardry 7.719, tested 21.0 micron, 3.1 SD, 14.4 CV, 99.5% comfort factor, and at 16 months of age, weighs 111.5kg. Judge, Roger Polking-horne of Charinga Merino stud commended the ram on his length of body, correct square structure, and long, free growing, well-aligned wool. Uardry Stud Manager, Ben Lane said “the ram represents the future direction of the Australian Merino Industry.”

Further outstanding achievements for this young ram in 2008 include Australian Champion Merino Hogget Ram, Hay; Australian Champion All-Purpose Ram, Bendigo; Champion March-shorn Strong Wool Ram, Bendigo, and nearly $8,000 cash in prizemoney.

Sims Uardry 7.719 will lead the Uardry sale team at the Dubbo National Merino Ram Sale at the end of this month.
