as indicated by the prices new buyers and long standing clients were prepared to pay
at the 2007 Uardry Stud Foundation Sale.

In a total clearance the Uardry and Sims Uardry rams sold to a top of $12,000 and
120 rams averaged $1,400 which was up
by forty dollars on last year.

The top price of $12,000 was paid for the
19 micron Junior March shorn and Strong Wool Champion at the Australian Sheep
and Wool show in Bendigo. The ram, Sims Uardry 6.344, was purchased by Russell
and Fay Matthews of the Salony Merino
Stud, of Streatham, Victoria.

Mr Matthews and stud classer, James Lilburne, introduced Sims Uardry blood into the Salony stud five years ago to lift fleece weight and add size, length and stretch to his fine wool ewes. Mr Matthews believes the introduction of Sims Uardry blood has turned his merino venture into a profitable business. His last clip averaged $1,370 per bale and his lambs were maturing early.
