Welcome to Uardry

Did you know?

Uardry has a separate Farming and Irrigation site. Click here to visit Uardry Farming.

Uardry is most commonly pronounced “Wardry” or “U-or-dree”. The word “Uardry” comes from the local Aboriginal word for Yellow Box Gum, which grows on Uardry.

We've made over 100 pieces of Uardry silver jewellery. Not only are the cufflinks and pendants attractive with the sterling silver links and chain but they can be matched to a commemorative birth year or anniversary. We have mint dates from 1938 through to 1963 with a few omissions in the 1940s and 1951 when we cannot procure these coins.

Established in 1864, Uardry is one of Australia’s leading merino parent studs and is recognised throughout the world. The sheep were skilfully bred to suit the environment and are known for their hardy constitution and heavy cutting medium wool.

Generations of breeding true to type has increased the genetic stability of the Uardry merino, producing a prepotent bloodline and consistent results. Over 250 studs have used the Uardry bloodline.

One of Uardry’s most famous rams, Uardry 0.1, was immortalised on the Australian Shilling coin from 1938 to 1966, featured again on the 50 cent coin in 1991 and bobbed up again in 2011 on the $1 coin.
